Human needs: Integrated in landscape

Human needs: Integrated in landscape

Human needs: Integrated in landscape

Using ◹ Maslow's hierarchy of needs as a guide: we are designing a property development framework for integrating structures and systems into landscapes that solve directly for human needs in abundance, creating natural, climate-resilient, zero-cost-of-living habitats.

Though the problems of the world are increasingly complex, the solutions remain embarrassingly simple.

-Bill Mollison, Founder of Permaculture

“We are all here to contribute our gifts toward something greater than ourselves, and will never be content unless we are.”

For over 70 years economics has been fixated on GDP, or national output, as its primary measure of progress. That fixation has been used to justify extreme inequalities of income and wealth coupled with unprecedented destruction of the living world. For the twenty-first century a far bigger goal is needed: meeting the human rights of every person within the means of our life-giving planet.

Why We Build:

Solving the Root of the Crisis

The world is facing a metacrisis, with our environment, economy, and societies stretched to their breaking point.

The lifestyle choices, or rather, survival mechanisms of billions of people— many of which are dictated by a lack of alternative options—specifically how we humans get our basic needs met, are at the heart of many global crises. Our dependence on market related jobs, in most cases unrelated to our basic needs, for money, in order to access grocery stores for food, rent for shelter, grid systems for water and power, fossil fuel-based infrastructure upholding the entire system end-to-end, physical environments and societal layout design that disconnect us from nature — all contribute to environmental degradation, resource depletion, and a loss of well-being.

At The Maslow Initiative, we believe that by redesigning human settlements to secure basic physiological needs—shelter, food, water, energy, and sanitation—at their source, at a local level, we can solve many of these issues. Our approach abundantly and non-negotiably, integrates human needs into the landscape, eliminating downstream problems like pollution from food and beverage containers, inequality, and resource scarcity.

By shifting away from resource-extractive systems and creating regenerative lifestyles, we can move from survivalism to thrivalism, building a future where humans and nature prosper together.

What We Do:

Securing the Foundations of Life

At the heart of The Maslow Initiative is the creation of landscapes that provide for human needs.

However, securing physiological needs is just the beginning. We believe that true freedom comes from abundance, where all human needs are met. Our developments lay the foundation for self-sufficient living, but that's only the first step.

However, securing physiological needs is just the beginning. We believe that true freedom comes from abundance, where all human needs are met. Our developments lay the foundation for, not 'self', but 'community'-sufficient living, but that's only the first step.

Over time, we prioritise integrating spaces that enrich the human experience:

🧑‍🏫 schools, 🫂 community centres, 🧘 yoga studios, 🧖 saunas, 🏕️ camp sites by the river, 🗿 land art, 🐎 horse riding trails, 📽️ cinemas, 🛖 retreat spaces, 🧑‍🎨 artist hubs, 🧑‍💻co-working worlds, 📖 libraries, 🪜 workshop spaces, 🎸 instrument and recording studios, 🥻clothes making & repair shops, 🪩 event and dance spots, 🎡 carnival areas, ⛲️ public fountains, 🔭 space & 🔬 science exploration buildings, 🥎 sports courts, 🎣 fishing ponds, 🎪 circuses, 🛋️ community lounges, 📚 libraries, ☕️ coffee stops, 🛝 playgrounds, 🧺 laundry services, 🚵‍♀️ bicycle tracks, 🧗 rock climbing routes, 🏟️ amphitheatres, 🥙 cooking classes & kitchens, ⛰️ mountain trails, 🏘️ interconnected living spaces, and so on, the possibilities are endless.

Our vision goes beyond survival; we’re building environments that nurture creativity, community, wellness, and personal growth. By securing the basics in abundance first, we set people free to thrive in every aspect of life. By reducing the average cost-of-living to zero, we allow money to take on a whole new dimension of intentional directionality, meaning it is a place where people can truly save their money, spending it on further improving their lives, their communities and the planet, for generations to come.

Self-actualization, to Maslow, is the ability to become the best version of oneself. Maslow stated:

"This tendency might be phrased as the desire to become more and more what one is, to become everything that one is capable of becoming."

How We Create Paradise:

A Blueprint for Abundance

Our approach combines everything from Permaculture to Syntropic Agroforestry, from open-source technology to real life community building to create physically real zero-cost-of-living environments.

By developing properties with food forests, water systems, off-grid energy, and a variety of modular homes and community structures, we empower individuals to live comfortably, sustainably and regenerate the land at the same time.

Who We Are:

A Global Community of

🌅ParadiseMakers

The Maslow Initiative is a collective of visionaries, designers, farmers, builders, and dreamers dedicated to creating a world where human needs are met by the land, not at its expense.

From the pioneers developing eco-villages to the players planting trees in our digital platform, we are united by a shared mission: to transform how we live on this planet. Whether you are an investor, a landowner, or someone seeking a sustainable lifestyle, you are invited to join us in making paradise—for ourselves, our communities, and our planet.
