Sacred Waters

Sacred Waters

Definition

Rivers, lakes, springs, or oceans regarded as spiritually significant or ritually cleansing in a cultural or spiritual tradition.

Interpretation

Waters are sacred not because of what they do, but because of what they are. They carry stories, ancestors, prayers. They are baptisms and borderlines, beginnings and endings. Sacred waters remind us to bow.

Living Invitation

Choose a body of water in your life and treat it as sacred. Offer it something. Let it cleanse something in return.
