Mulch

Mulch

Definition

A protective layer of organic material (leaves, straw, compost, bark) placed on soil.

Interpretation

Mulch is a blanket for the Earth. It keeps moisture in, weeds down, soil cool, and microbes fed. Nature never leaves soil naked. Mulch is the difference between tired dirt and living soil.

Living Invitation

Mulch one patch of bare soil this week with leaves, grass clippings, or cardboard. Check back in a month.
